A review on OWC: My wife and I have made 6 or 7 purchases recently, SSHD, 4TB&2TB Drives and and a MacBook Pro which have all arrived in perfect condition. We live in Johannesburg, South Africa and some have said to us that we are taking major risks importing these items, well, they have been proved wrong 7 times and we are very happy with the products, with DHL and most of all OWC. Lastly, we can get products faster from OWC than I can find them in South Africa.
Got this charger because my original Mac charger had died and it was impossible to find replacements from Apple. Does what a charger shall do, takes both 110 and 220 v 60/50 Hz, and has a replaceable power cord, thus enabling us Eueropeans our own plug/s w/o problems. Only downside is that the cords cannot be wound around the charger as easily as on the Apple originals, but, hey, it works, and it’s white and not at all clunky like most PC chargers. A good buy!
I have owned one of these for a couple of years, and bought two more six months ago. All of them are still working, while all of my original Apple G4 supplies are defunct. On most of the Apple supplies the charging cable or connector eventually broke, but that has not been a problem with these.
The weak point of any G4 supply is the connector that plugs into the Mac, and there is only so much that can be done to improve it. Like most aftermarket supplies, this one does not have the amber/green charging light, but it does have a sturdy cable with a molded-on plug. On the whole, this is a good tradeoff.
The only improvement I would like to see would be a two color charging indication built into the body of the supply.
